Mr. Ken Irvine

This will be my 6th year as a Teacher and Department Chair at Serra High School. My background is in Biochemistry, with undergraduate work at Whittier College and graduate studies at CSU Long Beach. I also obtained my Master’s in Secondary Education from LMU.

This year, I am working to grow our National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)/International Space Station Programs, along with PLTW - Biomedical Sciences. I am also working to build a team to compete in the XPIZE competition.

Ultimately, I greatly enjoy teaching at Serra for one reason above all others: the students I serve. My goal for students is to help them grow in their understanding of the world - whether that be through biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences, or engineering - while also giving them opportunities to grow in their understanding of themselves, their work ethic, and their unique talents.
