Fore A Great Cause

Junipero Serra High School is hosting the 2nd Annual Serra Cavalier Golf Classic on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the fun-to-play Chester Washington Golf Course (formerly Western Golf Course) in Los Angeles. The format will be a 18-hole scramble, and the tournament is expected to sell out. Check-in and a putting contest start the festivities from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The course is named after the award-winning journalist, Chester Washington, who regularly frequented the course. Chester Washington Golf Course measures 6,300 yards from the black tees with a slope rating of 119.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit Serra's vital tuition assistance program. The inaugural tournament last year was a big success, and this year's event is shaping up to be even better.

Tournament organizer and alumnus, Brian Cooper '74, along with the tournament committee, have planned an enjoyable day for all. Entry fees include green fees, a cart, a goodie bag topped off by dinner. Early bird registration is $125 per golfer or $500 for a foursome. Participants registering after April 15, 2017 will be $150 per golfer or $600 a foursome. Click [+HERE].

"We are looking forward to a fun-filled day, and better yet, the tournament is on Cinco de Mayo," said Cooper. "Come out an play and learn first-hand what the Serra Family is all about!"

Friends of Serra, faculty, staff, alumni and more will be in attendance. A tasty dinner, silent auction and an awards ceremony will follow the tournament at Serra's nearby campus.
