Sacramento, CA, June 18, 2013: Senators Roderick D. Wright, Ricardo Lara and Assemblyman Steven Bradford welcomed the Serra High School Track & Field teams to the State Capitol last month for a recognition ceremony to celebrate the boys’ winning the state title. Both teams participated in a special dinner at Esquire Grill in downtown Sacramento and ceremony, which included talks by the legislators, and the distribution of State Championship rings.
For many of the Cavaliers on hand, it was his or her first time at the State Capitol, and to meet influential policy-makers in person. The most memorable moment for many of the students was witnessing the passing of a legislative resolution that honored the team for their accomplishments. A framed print-out of the resolution was given to the school to post, and Senator Wright emailed the team with photos from the day’s events.
