Serra’s Baseball Star Honored at USC

Los Angeles, CA, October 22, 2011: Junior second baseman and pitching sensation Khalil Denson was honored Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at Taper Hall on the campus of the University of Southern California as one of Southern California’s top scholar-athletes. Khalil was selected for the second consecutive year by the Omega Educational Foundation and The Walls Family Scholar-Athlete Foundation. Khalil was awarded a trophy, certificate and a membership to the California African-America Museum.
Khalil’s selection was based on his 3.85 GPA, a .448 batting average, a league-leading pitching record of six wins and no losses and an earned run average of 1.39, second best in the 2011 Camino Real Baseball League and his selection to the 1st team All-League.
Denson was asked what he attributed his success to and he added, “hard work, parents who support me and demand I do my best, and Serra’s baseball coaching staff, which is the best coaching staff in the nation.”
The Serra academic and baseball family salutes Khalil on his achievements and wish him future success in the academic and baseball arenas.
