Serra High School Academic Decathlon Team Wins Third Place in Division

Gardena, CA, February 2, 2013 – The Serra High School Academic Decathlon team, coached by Kristen Tordillos, took home 19 medals and a third place in their division at the Southern California Private Schools Academic Decathlon on January 28th and February 2nd. The team’s success is notable considering they only had one returning decathlete, Allen Futterer, and a new coach.

This year’s theme was “Russia”, including questions about the novel Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. The event was held at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills. Serra competed against other Archdiocesan and private schools such as Mater Dei in Orange County, Mary Star of the Sea in San Pedro, and St. Monica High School. Help us in congratulating our team:
