Serra Science Dept. welcomes four new science labs this year

Gardena, CA, August 26, 2014: It’s not exactly science, but the phrase, “When it rains, it pours” is certainly applicable to the Serra Science Department this year. On the heels of approving and funding the Project Lead the Way initiative to expand the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) curriculum over the next four years, the school was approved to receive four brand new science labs. The classrooms impacted by the shiny new equipment are Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Says Erin McCaffery, Chemistry teacher, “Wow. I walked into my room at the beginning of the year, and didn’t recognize it! This not only helps me facilitate activities in a more efficient, safer and more thorough way, but it also gives the students an advantage to work with updated equipment."

Mr. Jeff Guzman, principal, wanted to thank the generous supporters of Serra High School who made this possible. “It is generosity of spirit and resources like this that helps our students realize their full potential and God-given gifts. I’m very pleased with how the labs look, and I look forward to what our students can do with them.”
