Tradition Lives Here

Junipero Serra High School is concluding one of its most festive weeks of the school year: Homecoming Week. As part of the week long celebration, Serra students, faculty and staff chose a theme for each day:
  • Monday - Pajama Day
  • Tuesday - Awkward Family Photo Day
  • Wednesday - Disney Day, Powder Puff Football Game
  • Thursday - Formal Dress, All-School Mass
  • Friday - Class Color Day
On Friday night, Serra hosts Mission League rival , Loyola High School, at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $8. Children under 12 years of age are $2. On-campus parking is $10 with off-campus parking also available. The contest is scheduled to be broadcast on Fox Sports West's Prep Zone and the Fox Sports Go app.

During halftime, Serra’s homecoming king and queen will be crowned followed by a spectacular fireworks show.

Adriana Encelan ‘03, Serra’s director of student activities, has played a lead role in the coordination of Homecoming Week. “The school spirit here at Serra is something special! As an alumnae and now teacher and administrator, it’s exciting to pass down our school’s many traditions. The best part is our students are having a ton of fun, and that’s what high school is about, making memories,” said Encelan.

Homecoming Week is also a big week for Serra’s proud alumni. Prior to the Cavalier-Cub showdown, former Serra students will form an alumni tunnel. During the game, class years will be recognized, and following the game, the Serra Family will come together for a post-game celebration.

The joyous week concludes with the traditional Homecoming Dance. This year’s edition is tabbed “Winter Wonderland” and will be held at the Marriot Hotel in Los Angeles.
